Terms of use

These terms cover this website, the data files it serves and the free hosted API and MCP server at nicheclock.elmrank.com. The nicheclock software is free software under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and that licence governs the code.

As is, no warranty

The website, its data and everything on it are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes accuracy, completeness, availability and fitness for a purpose. The data is a trend signal produced by software from public sources. It can be wrong, late or missing, and it is not advice. You use it at your own risk.

The data and its sources

• The data comes from public sources under their own terms (see Sources). Each item carries its source, a link and its licence or attribution. Those licences stay with the sources, and we claim no rights over the underlying data.
• Keep the source, link and licence or attribution with an item wherever you show it. GDELT items must credit the GDELT Project. Wikipedia items are titles, dates and links only.
• No number on the site is search volume. Each is measured in the unit written next to it.

Fair use of the site

• Read the pages and the JSON files at a reasonable rate. Don't attack the site, don't try to get around limits we set, and don't use it to break the law or someone else's terms.
• Don't present the data as your own or as an official source. Don't resell the site's data files as a competing dataset.
• We may block traffic that harms the site, without notice.

The hosted API and API keys

• A key is free and personal. You get one by signing in with GitHub at the key page; each person may hold 2 active keys. Keep a key secret, don't share it or publish it, and revoke it on the key page if it leaks. You are responsible for what is done with your key.
• Each key is limited to 1,000 requests a day (UTC) and 60 a minute. Creating several accounts to get around the limits, or using many keys together as one, is not allowed. Over the limit the API answers 429.
• The same rules as for the site apply to the data: keep the source, link and licence or attribution of every item you show.
• We may change the limits, refuse a request, or revoke a key that harms the service or breaks these terms, without notice. What we store about key holders is on the privacy page.

No service level

The site and the hosted API are free. They can change, break, be limited or be shut down at any time. We don't promise uptime or support. Limits and the free tier may change.
